I was remarking only yesterday why one sees odd shoes laying around in the most unlikely of places. At least you found a pair but it still begs the question how & why did they end up there? Well spotted and shot.

@CraigM: Well, this time i have an explanation for you. It is Passover here and people usually buy new stuff before the holidays, throwing away old goods. It may be everything, from dishes to furniture, sometimes in a good condition. So people don't throw it to a dustbin but put it alongside for paupers to take.
